How to Massage Your Face With a Facial Roller
There are scads of fancy-schmancy facial massaging and skin-boosting apparatuses on the market.
I don't even want to try and count how many.
Most of them claim they can massage, tighten & tone like nothing you've ever experienced before, yet a huge number end up as yet another 'bathroom fixture' after having emptied your pocketbook.
I have a theory about facial boosting tools.
LisaLise Theory about Facial Boosting ToolsFacial boosting tools are entirely unnecessary.
Really and truly.
It is quite possible to perform a fabulous self-facial massage using nothing more than your own 2 hands. The cool part: they are already attached to your body, quite functional, and don't even cost anything to use.
But to be fair, facial massage using only your hands takes a bit of practice to get right.
My age-old mantra of 'less-is-more-without-sacrificing-luxury' prompted me to start exploring simple-yet-effective facial massage tools at the end of last year.
Here's what I started with.
Ayurvedic Wooden Facial MassagerToday, we're going to learn how easy it is to use a little lotus-wood Ayurvedic facial massaging thingy dingy.
I got this one right here, but am guessing similar models are available in your nearby if you do an internet search. And if it isn't, these folks will ship worldwide.
This roller is lightweight, handy and feels surprisingly pleasant to use.
It arrived boxed with a guideline that clearly stated (in French) 'create your own personalized face massage routine'.
We get to make up our own rules!
How to Use an Ayurvedic Wooden Facial Massager
If you've never used a facial massager before, don't worry. It's easy peasy. Here's how I use mine.
- Wash face and neck with your chosen cleanser
- Rinse thoroughly
- Apply a few drops of face oil or a favorite serum to your moist skin
- With light but firm pressure, use the roller to massage your face. Start wherever you wish: across your forehead, along the jawline, upwards on cheeks, and upwards on neck. When massaging the eye area, lighten the pressure. Switch hands if necessary to cover the entire face.
- Although the roller won't feel greasy (if you use oil), dry it with a clean cloth after use.
That's how easy it is!
The entire process needn't take more than 5 minutes and your skin should feel stimulated without any redness or irritation.
I've been using this little number for about a month now and have grown quite fond of how easy and pleasant it is to use and how it leaves my skin feeling.
Just so you can see the size / proportion, I took a snap of myself using it.
Actually it was about 30 snaps. Do you know how hard it is to photograph yourself massaging your face with a face roller with your eyes closed? It's quite an entertaining challenge.
