The Theme of the Year

This year - or a good part of it - has a theme. The picture above might give you a hint.

Have you guessed what it is?

The bare essentials!

All right, I'll be honest. There's actually a reason that is not entirely of my own choosing (well, ok it is, but not the time frame part).

The Reason and The Time Frame Part

My lab (along with other work-related things) is being relocated. This isn't going to be a quick move either. We're looking at a healthy span of time (due to buildings that must undergo major reconstruction).

So, for a while that is hopefully-not-too-terribly-long-but-most-likely-will-be-far-longer-than-originally-planned-because-building-projects-always-take-longer-than-they-say – we're going to be scaling back to basics around here.

That translates to easy peasy skin care tips and products that can be made with a minimal of equipment, ingredients, and materials.

Actually, when you look at it that way, this might be quite fun! Let's see how much luxury skin and hair care we can achieve with the barest essentials, shall we?

Stay tuned!

Actually, there are plenty, in my opinion. For example: rhassoul. You can clean yourself from head to toes with it and it's magnificent for skin. What about the oil method for skin, which cleanses and moisturises? A humble rise water as a tonic...
Is true that concocting a nice lotion or shampoo is great, but it's also true that sometimes the simpler the better.
Just thinking about your cleansing bars is a great way to begin.

Sounds exciting, I hope the move goes well.

Thank you María - I absolutely agree with you about rhassoul. I've been nuts over it ever since I used it the first time--- (don't ask me how long ago that was!) :)

Dear Lise,

Happy New Year!

I had a busy December and then went traveling over Christmas. Now it's back to work and back to the fun in my kitchen - how I wish I had a lab! I hope that your mowe will be smooth and can't wait to hear more about the simple life of 2015 and what interesting products that will bring to life :-)
I know what I would pack and that's honey. I'd also pack oatmeal for face scrub and rice for body scrub but as they are in the kitchen they don't really count I guess. I'd bring Kaolin clay, emulsifier, preservative, waxes and my EO's as well.

Have a wonderful weekend :-)
Tina

Thank you Tina and a super Happy New Year to you too! You are right on the money with the oatmeal, honey and clay. And yes, one must have some good oils, butters and waxes.. and emulsifiers, and hydrosols, and a few active ingredients--- and I just can't seem to cut back!!
