Preservatives in Cosmetics - Who Needs Them?

When I started doing my own cosmetics, I chose to work solely with plant-based ingredients, focusing on organic, planet-friendly raw materials. Back then, 'green' and 'natural' skin care was a niche area. Times have (happily) changed and a 'green consciousness' has gained momentum with more ladies (and gents) actively looking for natural solutions to their skin and hair care.

And that's great – except when it's not.

Thanks Lise for this blog post. I'm also on a mission to try and educate others on broad spectrum preservatives. Finding one which is "natural" is a difficult task (most fail against mould/fungus). I wrote this article which lists common preservatives and how to use them and hope that this will prove useful to other DIYers - http://makingskincare.com/preservatives/
