How To - 3 Ingredient Body Butter With Shea

Today, we're going to make a deliciously honey-scented body butter. By using a neutral-smelling oil and a neutral-smelling butter, the glorious scent of the beeswax shines through.

This recipe is quite basic - only 3 ingredients - and is a great way to get better acquainted with shea butter.

Shea has all sort of skin-loving goodness to offer, but can be a tad tricky to work with. Not to worry! There's a troubleshooting bit below as well as links to more info.

How To – Body Butter with Shea

Let's make a body butter with shea!

I know what you're thinking.

Oh no, Lise! Not shea! It's too darn unreliable to work with and you never know if it's going to turn out grainy!

Your body butter is going to be the creamiest, smoothest, most skin loving body butter you ever made.

Which One Do You Want?

Sooo, while my stockroom is only semi-accessible (packed in boxes), I decided to compensate for the limited lab access by sorting through notes and catching up on some writing. Then I noticed how big the how-to page on this blog has gotten.

Hair Wax How To

Remember when hair wax was a must-have for every hairdo? That's how long I've been making this hair wax.

It provides a medium hold, making it useful for a variety of short and semi-short hair-do's.

This formula is easy-peasy, quick to make, and has quite simply never failed me. As a matter of fact, I've never even been tempted to tweak it.

Not even once.

I wish I could take credit for creating it, but I can't. It is from Danish Urtegaarden. For those of you who prefer reading the original (in Danish), there's a link at the bottom of this post.

But don't be fooled.

Just because it's inexpensive and a snap to make, don't think this body butter won't be the most fabulous skin-loving balm for hands, cuticles, feet, dry patches, elbows, or lips that you've ever tried.

Prepare to get hooked on your own body butter!

This basic formula works beautifully as is, but can also be 'fancied up' to your hearts content.

Rose and Rhassoul Cleanser - a Study in Composition

Speaking from a skin care viewpoint, I'm a huge fan of rose. No matter which way you look at it, rose is a gift to skin.

Over the years, I've worked with rose in just about every imagineable form; dried whole buds, powdered, essential oil (every type available), both oil and water-based extracts, and my all time favorite – rose hydrosol.

Not only is rose consistently a pleasure to work with – it always brings the most delicious scent to any mix.

In all the years I have made cosmetics, I think I can safely say I will never tire of the scent.

So, with that in mind, I thought I'd share a few snaps of a no-soap face cleanser I put together the other day. I think you've already guessed what the starring ingredient is.
