Luxury Lotion Bars - Now, to the Oils

I'm still on a quest for the most perfect, fabulous luxury lotion bars on the planet. You are probably at this very moment thinking 'now there's an oxymoron if ever I heard one: luxury lotion bars!'

And I do understand.

Lotion bars are easy-peasy to make and great-for-beginners.
Luxury smacks of pricey, exclusive, difficult-to-attain.

But that seems to be me in a nutshell. The idea of adding luxury to a simple, easy-to-do thing as a lotion bar is pretty much how I approach cosmetics making. Taking opposites and making them work together in an 'elevated' fashion is a 'self-inflicted' constant quest.

So, even though I haven't written about them for a while, I've been spending a lot of time trying to reinvent the lotion bar this past year.

After testing different butters for months, the oils are now being considered, combined and diligently tested.

Here's my latest combo.

Avocado, Rice and Cucumber - Yum!

Here is a peek at my latest batch. Here, avocado, rice bran and cucumber oils are combined with a few of my favorite staple ingredients.

The (mostly) staples

Beeswax
Lanolin
Cocoa butter (or Mango butter)
Sal butter (or Kpangnan butter)

The oils

Rice bran
Avocado
Cucumber Seed

And here's how this batch turned out.

How are they testing?

It's still early days, but so far, I'm loving this combination. I haven't worked very much with avocado oil, but am truly enjoying the richness this oil brings to both the feel and scent of these bars.

I foresee a few lotion bars with this oil combination landing in a few Christmas stockings this year.
