Earache? Put Garlic in Your Ear

Sometimes, it makes perfect sense to do something that sounds a little strange – like putting garlic in your ear. I just learned this from a lovely lady named Fiona.

Fiona has put garlic in her ears for years because it works wonders every time she gets an earache. I asked her if I could share her method with you. She agreed.

Fiona's Failsafe Garlic Treatment for Earache

1. Select a Large Clove of Garlic
Be sure the size of the clove is generous enough so it won't be able to disappear into the depths of your ear (which would kind of defeat the purpose of this exercise)

2. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil (Be sure the oil is not too hot). Place the clove in the warm oil for a few minutes.

3. Remove the clove from the oil and place it in the aching ear.

4. Position yourself so the oil can run off the garlic and into the ear canal. Stay that way for 5 minutes.

5. Remove the clove.

This process can be repeated if necessary (but Fiona recommends waiting a while first).

Visit Fionas blog The Beauty Shortlist right here (which is filled with all sorts of wonderful beauty products and has absolutely nothing to do with garlic or earaches)

PS: Had you ever heard of this method for treating earache?

So glad this has already helped your friend's little boy...seems to work 99% of the time - no more trips to the doctor's surgery if you catch the infection early!

Garlic is antiviral, antibiotic and antiseptic...very powerful stuff. PS: Never apply raw garlic directly to skin or the ear as it can burn, but in warmed olive oil it can work wonders. Thanks for sharing the tip, Lise!
