Soap for Sensitive Skin – The Joys of JOIK

I just fell in love with bar soap. 'Yeah, so?' (I hear you thinking). I suppose it doesn't sound like much, unless perhaps you happen to know that I haven't used any products other than my own for yonks (or, as North Americans say, ages). A recent mishap with a commercially made bar of soap with a less than fortunate outcome had me completely convinced to never ever use bar soap again –  EVER – until...

Meet JOIK and NURME

Ta daa! Someone out there in the world of soapmaking is doing exactly what I would be aiming for if I were a maker of bar soap. Every soap is handmade using local ingredients, all natural, plant-based fats and oils, organic herbs, and 100% essential oils. There is a real attention to detail with every box designed to compliment the contents, and every one marked with a hand-written production date. And they smell absolutely divine. The people who make them: JOIK and NURME in Estonia.

Meet Liis

Liis from I.R.Pale (a make-up wiz and color connoisseur if ever there was one) introduced me to JOIK and NURME recently. She also went shopping to personally choose – just for me – a selection of 4 herbal soaps. (now wasn't that just the sweetest thing ever?!)

Here's what was in the package:

Pumice Soap (by NURME)

Containing – you guessed it – pumice-stone – perfect for the feet. It cleanses and exfoliates simultaneously – great idea! (the soap in the center of the photo above)

Tar Soap (by NURME)

Deep, dark, decadent and utterly delicious. This one left my skin feeling like I had been to a spa. (on the bottom right of the photo above). What a beautiful earthy-liquorice scent!

Peppermint and Thyme Soap (by JOIK)

I haven't tried this one yet, but am already in love with the scent, and no wonder: look at the ingredients list: olive oil, canola oil, coconut oil, palm oil, sunflower oil, cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, castor oil, peppermint & thyme essential oils

Super Gentle Baby-Friendly Soap (by JOIK)

I haven't tried this one yet either, but the scent is subtle and divine. Ingredients: olive oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, avocado oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, calendula petals for decoration.

Thank you Liis!

You're very welcome :)
And I agree - the tar-soap is addictive.
I feel a wee bit embarrassed about all the praise but do not worry, it'll pass :D
